Phillies Activate Austin Hays From 10 Day Injured List After Missing 13 Games With Hamstring Injury

Phillies' Austin Hays Activated from Injured List

Hays Returns After 13-Game Absence

The Philadelphia Phillies have activated outfielder Austin Hays from the 10-day injured list. Hays had been sidelined since August 5th with a left hamstring strain.

Injury Update

Hays suffered his injury while running to first base during a game against the Miami Marlins. He was initially placed on the injured list retroactive to August 4th.

The Phillies' medical staff has cleared Hays to return to action. He is expected to be available for Friday night's game against the San Diego Padres.

Hays' Role with the Phillies

Hays was acquired by the Phillies from the Baltimore Orioles in a trade in July. He was brought in to play every day in left field, a position that had been a weakness for the Phillies.

Despite his injury, Hays has made a positive impact on the Phillies. In 10 games with the team, he is batting .263 with two home runs and six RBIs.

Phillies' Outlook

The Phillies are currently 64-65 and in third place in the NL East. They are 2.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves for the division lead.

Hays' return should provide a boost to the Phillies' offense. He is a talented hitter who can provide power and speed.
