Former Senator Jim Inhofe Passes Away

Longtime Oklahoma Republican Dies Over Holiday Weekend

Inhofe Served in the Senate for over 30 Years

Former U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) passed away over the holiday weekend. He was 87 years old. Inhofe served in the Senate for over three decades and was a former chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He was known for his conservative views and his strong support for the military.

Inhofe began his political career in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, where he served from 1966 to 1974. He was then elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1986, where he served until his election to the Senate in 1994.

Inhofe was a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and was one of the president's earliest endorsers in the 2016 election. He was also a vocal critic of the Affordable Care Act and was a key player in the Republican effort to repeal the law.

Inhofe's death is a major loss for the Republican Party and for Oklahoma. He was a respected and influential figure in Washington, and he will be greatly missed.
