Celtics Steal Game 1 in NBA Finals Opener
Porzingis Powers Boston to Victory
Mavericks Falter Despite Irving's Return
The Boston Celtics have taken an early lead in the NBA Finals, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 115-112 in Game 1 on Thursday night. The victory was powered by a dominant performance from Kristaps Porzingis, who scored 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
The Mavericks struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 41.5% from the field. Kyrie Irving, who missed the previous two games with an injury, returned to the lineup but struggled mightily, shooting just 6-of-24 from the field.
Game 2 of the Finals will be played in Boston on Saturday night at 8 pm. The Celtics are now 1-0 in the series and will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead on their home court.
