Three-time Olympic Champion Back on Beam After Eight-Year Hiatus
Gabby Douglas, the first Black woman to win Olympic gold in the individual all-around, is making a comeback to competitive gymnastics. Douglas, 26, announced her return on social media, saying, "I'm still a competitor at heart." The three-time Olympic gold medalist last competed in 2016, but she has been training for a return to the sport in recent months. Douglas is set to compete in the upcoming U.S. Classic, which will be her first competition since the 2016 Rio Olympics. If she performs well at the Classic, she could earn a spot on the U.S. team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
